Uwe Harten

Uwe Harten (born August 16, 1944 in Ehrhorn ) is a German musicologist who works in Austria .

Life

Harten grew up in Hamburg , where he took on children's roles as a boy soprano at the State Opera . He also began studying musicology and art history in Hamburg , which he continued in Vienna with Erich Schenk . With his study of the Vienna Schumann -Verehrer Carl Debrois van Bruyck he was graduated .

He then worked as a dramaturgist at the Vienna Chamber Opera . In addition, he assisted Anthony van Hoboken in the preparation of his catalog raisonné by Joseph Haydn .

Since 1972 he has worked as an employee or member of the commission for music research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences . From 1974 he was secretary or member of the executive committee of the Society for the Publication of Monuments of Music in Austria .

In addition, Harten worked as an employee at the Anton Bruckner Institute Linz since it was founded in 1978, from 1988 to 2000 he was also its deputy scientific director and between 1977 and 2000 took part in the organization of the Bruckner Symposia in Linz. Uwe Harten is also President of the Hans Rott Society.

Harten has lived in Vienna since 1964 and is married to the musicologist Christa Harten geb. Flame.
