On February 24th, the Teatr Wielki , the largest theater in Warsaw, will open with a performance of the opera Il barbiere di Siviglia ( The Barber of Seville ) by Gioachino Rossini .

- Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy : The secular cantata The First Walpurgis Night has its world premiere on January 10th at the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin . The work is based on a ballad by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ; On May 13th, the 4th Symphony in A major, Op. 90, "Italian", will be premiered in the London Philharmonic Society under the direction of the composer. Today it is one of Mendelssohn's most frequently performed orchestral works.

- February 27 : premiere of the opera Gustave III. ou Le bal masqué by Daniel-François-Esprit Auber at the Grand Opéra, Paris.
- February 27 : The world premiere of the romantic opera Melusina by Conradin Kreutzer with the libretto by Franz Grillparzer takes place at the Königsstädtisches Theater in Berlin.
- March 4th : The comic opera Les Souvenirs de Lafleur by Jacques Fromental Halévy is premiered at the Opéra-Comique in Paris.
- March 16 : Beatrice di Tenda , the penultimate opera by the romantic bel canto composer Vincenzo Bellini based on the libretto by Felice Romani , is premiered at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice with the celebrated soprano Giuditta Pasta in the title role.
- March 17 : The opera Parisina of Gaetano Donizetti is the Teatro della Pergola premiered in Florence. The libretto was written by Felice Romani in 1816, based on a romance by Lord Byron .
- May 16 : The comic opera Ludovic by Jacques Fromental Halévy has its world premiere at the Opéra-Comique in Paris.
- May 24th : Hans Heiling , a romantic opera with spoken dialogues in three acts by Heinrich Marschner, has its world premiere at the Berlin Royal Court Opera . The libretto is by Eduard Devrient , who also sings the title role.
- July 20 : World premiere of the opera La prison d'Edimbourg by Michele Carafa at the Opéra-Comique, Paris
- July 22nd : The opera Ali Baba ou Les Quarante Voleurs ( Ali Baba or The Forty Robbers ) by Luigi Cherubini premieres at the Grand Opéra Paris .
- September 1st : World premiere of the opera I due sergenti by Luigi Ricci in Milan (Teatro alla Scala)
- September 9 : World premiere of the opera Torquato Tasso by Gaetano Donizetti in Rome.
- September 18th : World premiere of the opera Le proscrit ou Le tribunal invisible by Adolphe Adam at the Opéra-Comique in Paris

- December 26th : The world premiere of the opera Lucrezia Borgia by Gaetano Donizetti takes place at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. The libretto is by Felice Romani , who took the drama Lucrèce Borgia by Victor Hugo from the same year as a template without his consent.
