Josef Foerster
Josef Foerster (born February 22, 1833 in Wosenitz , Austrian Empire , † January 3, 1907 in Prague , Austria-Hungary ) was a Bohemian organist and composer.
Life
Anton Foerster's brother was a student at the Prague School of Organists and worked as an organist and choir director at various Prague churches. In 1887 he became choirmaster at St. Vitus Cathedral , the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Prague . He also taught music theory at the conservatory.
He composed masses , requiems , choirs and organ pieces.
Foerster's son Josef Bohuslav Foerster also became known as a composer.
