Wilhelm Würfel
Wilhelm Würfel ( Wenzel Würfel , Václav Würfel ; * 1790 in Planany , † April 22, 1832 in Vienna ) was a Czech composer, organist, pianist and music teacher.
Würfel was a student of Václav Jan Křtitel Tomášek and became an excellent pianist. From 1815 to 1824 he taught at the Warsaw Conservatory, where he was Frédéric Chopin's organ teacher . The last years of his life he was a conductor at the Kärntnertortheater .
Würfel's German-language opera Rübezahl was successfully performed at the Theater an der Wien . He also set some folk songs to music, e.g. B. How wonderful it is in the forest .
