Waldemar Thrane
Waldemar Thrane (born October 8, 1790 in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway ; † December 30, 1828 there ) was a Norwegian composer , violinist and conductor .
Thrane, who studied in Paris from 1814 to 1815 , was the most important Norwegian musician of his time and a pioneer of Norwegian musical life. His music reveals influences from the Viennese classicism and Carl Maria von Weber . He is best known for his Singspiel Fjeldeventyret (The Adventure on the Mountain) from 1824, in which Thrane inserts allusions to Norwegian folk music.
His nephew, Marcus Thrane , was an early Norwegian socialist .
