Józef Nikorowicz
Józef Nikorowicz (born April 2, 1827 in Zboiska , † January 6, 1890 in Chyrów ) was a Polish composer .
Life
Nikorowicz studied in Lemberg and Vienna with Martin Gustav Nottebohm . He performed as a pianist and became known as a composer of piano pieces, chorales and songs . His setting of Kornel Ujejski's poem Z dymem pożarów from 1846 became a hymn of the Polish independence movement. His Ave Maria is also well known .
