Chyriw ( Ukrainian Хирів ; Russian Хыров Chyrow , Polish Chyrów ) is a city in western Ukraine on the Polish-Ukrainian border .

Before the Second World War there was a Jesuit college in the city . The graduates of this college were u. a. the Polish politician and economist Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski and regional studies expert Mieczysław Orłowicz . Jaroslav Hašek is said to have lived in the college . The college also had a large and valuable library. After the German invasion in 1941, the library was closed. The Polish-Jewish writer Bruno Schulz is said to have worked on the categorization of the books during the dissolution . After the Second World War, the college became a barracks. There is a former Catholic church in the village, which was renovated in 2006.
