Maheriw (Ukrainian Магерів ; Russian Магеров / Magerow , Polish Magierów ) is an urban-type settlement in Shovkva Raion of Lviv Oblast in western Ukraine .
geography
The settlement is 40 kilometers northwest of Lviv and 25 kilometers northwest of the Rajons capital Shovkwa on the river Bila . South of the settlement is the almost 400 km² military training area Jaworiw .
On April 30, 2017, the settlement became the center of the newly established settlement community Maheriw (Магерівська селищна громада / Maheriwska selyschtschna hromada ), this includes also the 10 villages Birky (Бірки) Dumytschi (Думичі) Dumytschi (Думичі) Kamjana Hora ( Кам'яна гора) Monastyrok (Монастирок) Pidlissja (Підлісся) Poharysko (Погарисько) Samok (Замок) Subejky (Зубейки) and Welyke Peredmistja (Велике Передмістя), hitherto made it together with the villages Birky and Welyke Peredmistja the settlement council of the same name.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1595 (at the same time it was awarded the Magdeburg town charter), it was then in the Ruthenian Voivodeship as part of the aristocratic republic of Poland , came in 1772 as Magierów to the Austrian Galicia and was part of the Polish from 1918 to 1939 Republic (in powiat Rawa Ruska, Lviv Voivodeship ). After the end of the Second World War , the place fell to the Soviet Union, since 1991 it has been part of today's Ukraine. 1940/1944, the now Magerow / Maheriw called village received the status of an urban-type settlement, between 1940/1944 and 1959, the settlement was the Rajonszentrum of Rajons Maheriw (Магерівський район).
