Hnisdytschiw (Ukrainian Гніздичів ; Russian Гнездычев / Gnesdytschew , Polish Hnizdyczów ) is an urban-type settlement in the Zhydachiv district of Lviv Oblast in western Ukraine .
The settlement is located 65 kilometers south of Lviv and 4 kilometers south of the Rajons capital of Shydachiv on the Stryj .
On August 9, 2015, the settlement became the center of the newly established settlement community Hnisdytschiw (Гніздичівська селищна громада / Hnisdytschiwska selyschtschna hromada ) to this are also the five villages Hanniwzi (Ганнівці) Koroliwka (Королівка) Liwtschyzi (Лівчиці) Pokriwzi (Покрівці ) and Ruda (Руда), until then it formed the settlement council of the same name together with the villages of Korolivka and Pokriwzi .
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1646, was initially in Poland , came to Austrian Galicia as Hnizdyczów in 1772 and was part of the Polish Republic from 1918 to 1939 (in the powiat Żydaczów , Lemberg voivodeship ). After the end of the Second World War , the place fell to the Soviet Union, since 1991 it has been part of today's Ukraine. In 1957 the village, now called Gnesdytschew / Hnisdytschiw, received the status of an urban-type settlement.
In the middle of the 17th century, Our Lady of Kochawina appeared in the former village of Kochawina, which is now part of the settlement, and a Carmelite monastery established as a result was secularized in 1789. The pilgrimage church that still exists today was built in 1894.
In 1899 a train station was opened south of the village on what is now the Stryj – Ternopil railway line.
