Krakowez ( Ukrainian Краковець - also Краківець / Krakiwez; Russian Краковец , Polish Krakowiec , German rarely Krakowitz ) is an urban-type settlement in Jaworiw Raion of Lviv Oblast in western Ukraine, about 88 kilometers west of the capital Lviv on the river Schkloemberg . To the east of the place is the Krakowezer See , an artificially created reservoir.
The border with Poland runs northwest of the place. The settlement council also includes the villages of Broschky ( Брожки ), Hlynyzi , Morjanzi ( Мор'янці ) and Peredverja ( Передвір'я ) to the south and south-west . At the site over which runs M 10 and closes after the border crossing to Poland to Korczowa on.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1320 and received Magdeburg town charter in 1520 . The place belonged from 1774 to 1918 as Krakowiec to the Austrian Galicia and from 1854 to 1867 seat of a district administration , afterwards a district court of the district Jaworów was established.
After the end of World War I, the place became part of Poland (in the Lviv Voivodeship ), was briefly occupied by the Soviet Union during World War II and then by Germany until 1944. Under Soviet occupation, the place was downgraded to an urban-type settlement.
After the end of the war, the city was added to the Soviet Union , where the city came to the Ukrainian SSR and has been part of today's Ukraine since 1991.
