The Jaworów district was a political district in the crown land of Galicia and Lodomeria . Its area covered parts of eastern Galicia in what is now western Ukraine ( Lviv Oblast , Jaworiw Raion and Horodok Raion ) and Poland ( Subcarpathian Voivodeship , Powiat Lubaczowski ), the seat of the district administration was the city of Jaworów . In November 1918, after the collapse of the Danube Monarchy at the end of World War I, the district was briefly part of the West Ukrainian People's Republic .

It bordered on the north by the district Rawa Ruska , the east and southeast of the district Gródek Jagielloński , the south by the district Mościska and the west by the district Jaroslaw .

A forerunner of the later district (administrative and judicial authority at the same time) was created at the end of 1850, the district authority Jaworów was subordinate to the government area of ​​Lviv and included the following judicial districts:

  • Krakowiec judicial district
  • Niemirów judicial district

After the announcement in 1854, the Jaworów District Office (still responsible for administration and jurisdiction) within the Przemyśl District was established on September 29, 1855 .

After the district offices were abolished at the end of October 1865 and their competencies were transferred to the district offices , the division of the country into two administrative areas was also abolished after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1867. In addition, in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration, separate administrative and judicial authorities were created. While the judicial division remained largely unaffected, municipalities of several judicial districts were combined into administrative districts.

The new political district of Jaworów was formed from the following districts:

The Jaworów district consisted of 73 municipalities and 52 manor areas at the 1910 census and covered an area of ​​1005 km². In 1900 the population had still comprised 78,002 people, in 1910 86,720 people lived here. The majority of the population lived in the area with Ruthenian colloquial language (78%) and the Greek Catholic faith, while Jews made up around 7% of the population.
