The Żydaczów district was a political district in the crown land of Galicia and Lodomeria . Its territory included parts of eastern Galicia in today's Western Ukraine ( Lviv Oblast , Zhydachiv Raion and Mykolaiv Raion and Rajon Stryj ), seat of the district administration was the city Żydaczów . In November 1918, after the collapse of the Danube Monarchy at the end of World War I, the district was briefly part of the West Ukrainian People's Republic .

It bordered on the north by the district Lviv , in the northeast on the district Bóbrka , on the east by the district Rohatyn , in the southeast of the district Stanislau , the south by the district Kałusz , in the southeast of the district Dolina , to the west by the district Stryj and in the northwest to the Drohobycz District and Rudki District .

After the district offices were abolished at the end of October 1865 and their competencies were transferred to the district offices , the division of the country into two administrative areas was also abolished after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1867. In addition, in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration, separate administrative and judicial authorities were created. While the judicial division remained largely unaffected, municipalities of several judicial districts were combined into administrative districts.

The judicial district Żydaczów, after it had been announced in 1880, was created on January 1, 1882 from parts of the other two judicial districts.

The district Żydaczów consisted in the 1910 census of 76 communities and 61 manor areas and covered an area of ​​936 km². In 1900 the population had still comprised 74,158 people, in 1910 83,339 people lived here. The majority of the population lived in the area with Ruthenian colloquial language (75%) and Greek-Catholic faith, Jews made up around 8% of the population.
