The district of Skole was a political district in the crown land of Galicia and Lodomeria . Its territory included parts of eastern Galicia in today's Western Ukraine ( Lviv Oblast , Skole and Rajon Stryj ), seat of the district administration was the site of Skole . After the First World War , Austria had to cede the entire district to Poland .

It bordered the Drohobycz District in the north, the Stryj District in the northeast, the Dolina District in the southeast, the Kingdom of Hungary in the south and the Turka District in the west .

history

The district emerged late in the course of the administrative history of Galicia, although a forerunner existed between 1854 and 1867. Specifically, it was created on January 1, 1911 when the judicial district of Skole left the Stryj district.

The Skole district consisted of 52 communities and 46 manor areas at the 1910 census (although it was not officially founded in 1911!) And covered an area of ​​1268 km². In 1900 the population was 49,771, in 1910 55,353 people lived here. The majority of the population lived in the area with Ruthenian colloquial language (77%) and the Greek Catholic faith, while Jews made up around 11% of the population.
