Strzyżów district
The Strzyżów District was a political district in the crown land of Galicia and Lodomeria . Its territory covered parts of western Galicia in what is now Poland ( Powiat Strzyżów ), the seat of the district administration was the Strzyżów market . After the First World War , Austria had to cede the entire district to Poland, here large parts can be found today in the Powiat Strzyżowski .
It bordered on the northeast by the district Rzeszów , on the southeast by the district Brzozów , the south by the district Krosno , the west by the district Jasło and in the northwest on the district Pilzno and the District Ropczyce .
history
The district was created on September 15, 1896 when the Frysztak judicial district left the Jasło district and the Strzyżów judicial district from the Rzeszów district .
The Strzyżów district consisted of 70 municipalities and 44 manor areas in the 1910 census and covered an area of 532 km². In 1900 the population had still comprised 56,848 people, in 1910 58,549 people lived here. The majority of the people living in the area spoke Polish (95%) and had Roman Catholic beliefs; Jews made up around 7% of the population.
