history

A forerunner of the later district (administrative and judicial authority at the same time) was created at the end of 1850, the district authority Stare Miasto was subordinate to the government area of Lemberg and comprised the following judicial districts:

  • Stare Miasto judicial district
  • Turka judicial district
  • Borynia Judicial District

After the announcement in 1854, on September 29, 1855 the Stare Miasto District Office (still responsible for administration and jurisdiction) was established within the Sanok district.

After the district offices were abolished at the end of October 1865 and their competencies were transferred to the district offices , the division of the country into two administrative areas was also abolished after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1867. In addition, in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration, separate administrative and judicial authorities were created. While the judicial division remained largely unaffected, municipalities of several judicial districts were combined into administrative districts.

The new political district Staremiasto was formed from the following districts:

  • Staremiasto district (with 30 municipalities)
  • Parts of the Pudbuż district (Niedzielna, Turze, Zdzianna municipalities)
  • Parts of the Starasól District (Bąkowice, Berezów, Chyrów Market, Chyrowska Posada, Grodowice, Felsztyn Market, Felsztynska Posada, Laszki, Polana, Starasól, Sliwnica, Suszyca, Szumina, Stochinia, Tarnawka and Wolcze municipalities)
  • Parts of the Sambor District (Kobło, Straszewice Communes)
  • Parts of the Turka District (Dniestrzyk Hołowiecky, Lipie, Łopuszanka Chomina, Michnowice municipalities)

The district of Stary Sambor consisted of 59 parishes and 51 manor areas in the 1910 census and covered an area of 725 km².
