Tarnów district
The Tarnów district was a political district in the crown land of Galicia and Lodomeria . Its territory covered parts of western Galicia in what is now Poland ( Powiat Tarnów ), the seat of the district administration was the city of Tarnów . After the First World War , Austria had to cede the entire district to Poland, here large parts can be found today in the Powiat Tarnowski .
It bordered on the north by the district Dabrowa , on the east by the district Pilzno , in the southeast of the district Jasło , on the south by the district Gorlice , in the southwest of the district Grybów and in the northwest on the district Brzesko .
history
A forerunner of the later district (administrative and judicial authority at the same time) was created at the end of 1850, the Tarnów District Commission was subordinate to the Kraków government area and comprised the following judicial districts:
- Tarnów Judicial District, Section I.
- Tarnów Judicial District, Section II.
- Woynicz judicial district
- Zakluczyn Judicial District
After the announcement in 1854, on September 29, 1855, the Tarnów District Office (still responsible for administration and jurisdiction) was established within the Tarnów District.
After the district offices were abolished at the end of October 1865 and their competencies were transferred to the district offices , the division of the country into two administrative areas was also abolished after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1867. In addition, in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration, separate administrative and judicial authorities were created. While the judicial division remained largely unaffected, municipalities of several judicial districts were combined into administrative districts.
The new political district of Tarnów was formed from the following districts:
- Tarnów district (with 50 municipalities)
- Tuchów District (with 23 municipalities)
- Parts of the Radłów District (Rudka Commune)
- Parts of the Dombrowa district (Brnik, Żelazówka municipalities)

- Parts of the Pilzno district (Jastrąbka Nowa, Jawornik, Jodłówka mit Walki, Zdziary, Zukowice Stare, Zukowice Nowe, Łęki Górne municipalities)
In the 1910 census, the Tarnów district consisted of 82 municipalities and 85 manor areas and covered an area of 772 km². In 1900 the population was 107,470, whereas in 1910 114,118 people lived here.
