history

The church and parish in Skrzyszów were supposedly built in 1313, but the place was first mentioned in 1331 as Scrzisew / Scrisew and 1333 as Crisow . In 1333 the new owner Spycimir Leliwita expanded the older village in the forest upstream to 100 Flemish Hufen. Later on the settlement followed along the Wątok into the Szynwałd. The possessive name is derived from the personal name (S) Krzysz, where the first S could be a wrong decomposition.

Politically and administratively, the village belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Sandomir Voivodeship , Pilzno District .

During the first partition of Poland , Skrzyszów became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804). After the abolition of patrimonial it formed a parish in the Tarnów district .

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Skrzyszów became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Skrzyszów was part of the Tarnów Voivodeship .
