Spycimir the coat of arms Leliwa (Polish Spycimir Leliwita , Spycimir z Piasku i Tarnowa , Spycimir for Melsztyna , Spicymir for Tarnowa , Spytko for Melsztyna , Spicimir na Melsztynie de Lelewel et Fridemund ; died probably on 27. March 1352 ) was a Polish nobleman , diplomat Kings Władysław I. Ellenlang and Casimir the Great , Voivode of Cracow , Castellan of Cracow , Wiślica , Nowy Sącz , founder of Tarnów , ancestor of several noble families, including Tarnowski and Melsztyński .

Life

The name Spycimir, belittling Spytko , is of Slavic origin, but after Jan Długosz the knight came from the Rhineland . According to modern researchers, he came from Silesia or Lesser Poland and rose to power like many other new families in the milieu of Władysław I. Ellenlang. In 1312 Spitko de Dubno was the hunter master in Cracow, from 1317 a castellan in Nowy Sącz, 1319 in Wiślica, and finally in Cracow. From 1320 he signed many royal documents. Spycimir helped raise the future king Casimir. As a diplomat he was a. a. sent to the Teutonic Order state .

He was first married to a daughter of Pakosław von Mstyczów of the coat of arms of Lis, then with Stanisława from the Bogoria family, a niece of Bishop Jarosław Bogoria . He built the castles in Tarnów and Melsztyn , where he controlled the crossroads of trade routes from Kraków to Lviv ( Via Regia ) and from Sandomir to Hungary along the Dunajec . He founded the city of Tarnów and had 16 villages in the area.

He died around the year 1352 or 1354.
