The Husiatyn district was a political district in the crown land of Galicia and Lodomeria . Its area covered parts of eastern Galicia in what is now western Ukraine ( Oblast Ternopil , Rajon Hussjatyn and parts of the Rajons Tschortkiv and Rajons Terebowlja ), the seat of the district administration was the place Husiatyn . After the First World War , Austria had to cede the entire district to Poland .

It bordered the Skałat District in the north, the Russian Empire in the east, the Borszczów District in the south, the Czortków District in the southwest and the Trembowla District in the northwest .

After the district offices were abolished at the end of October 1865 and their competencies were transferred to the district offices , the division of the country into two administrative areas was also abolished after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1867. In addition, in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration, separate administrative and judicial authorities were created. While the judicial division remained largely unaffected, municipalities of several judicial districts were combined into administrative districts.

The Husiatyn district consisted of 56 municipalities and 46 manor areas at the 1910 census and covered an area of ​​873 km². In 1900 the population had still comprised 93,854 people, in 1910 96,891 people lived here. The majority of the population lived in the area with Ruthenian colloquial language (61%) and the Greek Catholic faith, Jews made up around 12% of the population.
