Probischna (Ukrainian Пробіжна ; Russian Пробежная / Probeschnaja , Polish Probużna ) is a village in Rajon Chortkiv the Oblast Ternopil in western Ukraine about 20 kilometers east of the Rajonshauptstadt Chortkiv and 65 kilometers southeast of the Oblasthauptstadt Ternopil riverside Nitschlawa (Нічлава) located.
The place was founded in the 17th century and was initially in the Podolia Voivodeship as part of the aristocratic republic of Poland . From 1772 to 1918, with an interruption between 1810 and 1815, when it had to be ceded to Russia as part of the Tarnopol district , it belonged to Austrian Galicia under its Polish name of Probużna . In 1785 he was granted the status of a market town.
After the end of the First World War, the place became part of Poland (in the Voivodeship Tarnopol , Powiat Kopyczyńce , Gmina Probużna ), was occupied by the Soviet Union from September 1939 and then by Germany from summer 1941 to 1944 , here the place was in incorporated the district of Galicia . During the Soviet occupation of eastern Poland , the town was stripped of its city status and in January 1940 it was designated the district capital of Probischna district . This Rajon then existed with interruptions during the German occupation until 1959, when it was largely integrated into the Chortkiv Rajon.
After the end of the war the place was added to the Soviet Union , there the village came to the Ukrainian SSR and has been part of today's Ukraine since 1991. After the 2nd World War, the previously independent village Hrynkiwzi (Гриньківці, Polish Hryńkowce ) was incorporated.
On the night of July 4th to 5th, 2000, a hurricane destroyed and damaged 740 buildings in the town.
