Thomas Mehtala

Thomas Mehtala (born November 12, 1974 ) is a Swedish pool player .

Career

In 1987 Thomas Mehtala won medals for the first time at the European Youth Championships with third place in the 8-ball and 9-ball classes . A year later he was third in the juniors in the 14/1 endless . In 1990 and 1991 he was vice European champion in 9-ball and 14/1 endlessly in the juniors. At the youth European championship in 1992 he became endless by a final victory against the German Alexander Wanner Junior European Champion in 14/1.

In November 1994, Mehtala won his first Euro Tour medal with third place at the Germany Open . A few days later he also came third at the Hungarian Open . In May 2009 Mehtala reached fifth place at the Interpool 9-Ball Open. A year later he finished fifth in the Interpool Open 10-Ball Challenge. In April 2011 Mehtala made it into the round of 16 of the Italy Open . However, he lost this 8: 9 against Jayson Shaw , the eventual finalist of the tournament.

At the World Cup of Pool , Mehtala has formed the Swedish team twice with Marcus Chamat . After they were eliminated in the first round in 2010 , they reached the quarter-finals in 2011 .
