history

After the general principles of judicial and administrative reform had been approved by Emperor Franz Joseph I in June 1849 , the ministries of the interior, finance and justice established the new administrative and judicial division in 1854. The two administrative areas of Krakow (West Galicia) and Lemberg (East Galicia) were created at the top level, followed by the districts and administrative districts . The district offices were initially mixed authorities with political, administrative and judicial tasks, which is why the Myślenice district was initially congruent with the Myślenice judicial district . The establishment of this mixed district offices was finally office effective September 29, 1855 the district Myślenice together with the districts Andrychów , Biala , Jordanów , Kalwarya , Kenty , Maków , Milówka , Oswiecim , Seypusch , Skawina , Ślemień and Wadowice the district Wadowice formed.

After the district offices were abolished at the end of October 1865 and their competencies were transferred to the district offices, the division of the country into two administrative areas was also abolished after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1867. In addition, in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration, separate administrative and judicial authorities were created. While the judicial division remained largely unaffected, municipalities of several judicial districts were combined into administrative districts.

The new political district of Myślenice was formed from the following districts:

In contrast to other crown lands, these provisions divided judicial districts into several political districts. In order to rectify this situation, a comprehensive territorial reform of the judicial districts took place in 1878. In the course of the reform, the judicial districts Kalwaryja and Skawina ceded the municipalities assigned to the Myślenice district to the Myślenice judicial district, the municipalities of the Dobczyce judicial district in the Myślenice district also came to the Myślenice judicial district, as did the Zassan municipality. In the district Wadowice lying communities in the judicial district Maków were assigned to the judicial district Wadowice. In addition, parishes were also swapped between judicial districts within the Myślenice district. As a result of the territorial reform that came into effect on August 1, 1878, the Myślenice District consisted of the Jaworów, Maków and Myślenice judicial districts from this point in time.

The Myślenice district consisted of 66 municipalities and 55 manor areas in the 1910 census and covered an area of 1046 km². In 1900 the population had still comprised 88,714 people, in 1910 93,241 people lived here.

Almost exclusively people with Polish colloquial language (99%) and Roman Catholic faith lived in the area, Jews made up around 2% of the population.
