history

According to a legend, Droginia was visited by Adalbert of Prague in 996 . The place was actually very old, it was first mentioned in documents around the year 1234 as Drogin , a village with a chapel, a mill and an inn, when it was awarded to the monastery in Jędrzejów by the Krakow voivode Teodor Foundation of the monastery in Ludźmierz (later in Szczyrzyc ) to help.

Politically and administratively the village belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Krakow Voivodeship , Szczyrzyc District.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Droginia became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

Military cemetery

After the beginning of World War I , the front reached Droginia at the Battle of Krakow . Those who died around 190 were buried there. In 1918, after the end of the World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Droginia came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the Krakow district in the General Government .

From 1975 to 1998 Droginia was part of the Krakow Voivodeship .

Before 1986, the majority of the residents of Banowice were resettled. After that the old village was flooded by the Jezioro Dobczyckie.
