The Beskid Island ( Polish Beskid Wyspowy ) are a mountain range of the West Beskids in Poland . The name is derived from the island-like peaks lying far apart.
geography
The island Beskids have an area of about 1000 km². In the south they border on the Gorce and the Sandezer Beskids ( Beskid Sądecki ), in the east on the Rożnow foothills ( Pogórze Rożnowskie ), in the north on the Wiśnica foothills ( Pogórze Wiśnickie ), in the west on the Beskid Makowski (Central Beskids) and the Saybus Beskydy Mountains .
The highest peaks are: Mogielica (1170 m), Ćwilin (1072 m), Jasień (1052 m), Modyń (1029 m), Luboń Wielki (1022 m), Krzystonów (1012 m), Kiczora Kamienicka (1007 m), Wielki Wierch (1007 m), Śnieżnica (1007 m), Szczebel (977 m), Lubogoszcz (968 m).
