The Gorce are a mountain range of the West Beskids in Poland .
It was mentioned as early as 1254 as item mons Gorcz nuncupatus .
geography
The Gorce border in the north-west through the Raba and in the north-east through Mszanka and Kamienica on the island Beskids . The Dunajec forms the border to the Sandezer Beskids ( Beskid Sądecki ) in the east and the Neumarkt Basin (Kotlina Nowotarska) in the south. The border with the Pieniny is formed by the Krośnica brook and the Snozka pass. In the west, the Gorce border the Saybuscher Beskids (Podhalańskie ridge) at the Sieniawskaan pass .
The Gorce extend parallel to the latitude over a length of about 40 km and meridionally over 20 km. On the maps, the mountain range is reminiscent of a starfish, centered on the highest peak, Turbacz.
The highest peaks are: Turbacz (1310 m), Jaworzyna Kamienicka (1288 m), Kiczora (1282 m), Kudłoń (1276 m), Czoło Turbacza (1259 m), Mostownica (1251 m), Gorc Troszacki (1235 m), Gorc (1228 m), Lubań (1225 m).
Protected areas
In 1981 the Gorce National Park was established.
