Biertowice is a village with a Schulzenamt of Gmina Sułkowice in the Powiat Myślenicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place is located in the Salzburg foothills ( Pogórze Wielickie ) on the Harbutówka river .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1334 as Biertultowicz [e] , when the owner Żegota gave the Maciej founding privilege under German law. The name is patronymically derived from the first name Biertołt / Bartołt / Bartułt (≤ German Berthold) with the typical patronymic Slavic word ending - (ow) ice.

Later the place became the property of the king and belonged to the Starostei Lanckorona until the partitions of Poland .

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Biertowice became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Biertowice came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the General Government .

From 1975 to 1998 Biertowice was part of the Krakow Voivodeship .

The church was consecrated in 1992 by Franciszek Macharski and the parish was established in 2006.
