Location of the Jasło district in the crown land of Galicia and Lodomeria

The Jasło district was a political district in the crown land of Galicia and Lodomeria . Its territory covered parts of western Galicia in what is now Poland ( Powiat Jasło ), the seat of the district administration was the city of Jasło . After the First World War , Austria had to cede the entire district to Poland, here large parts can be found today in the Powiat Jasielski .

It bordered the Pilzno District in the north, the Strzyżów District in the east, the Krosno District in the southeast, the Kingdom of Hungary in the south, the Gorlice District in the west and the Tarnów District in the northwest .

history

A forerunner of the district (administrative and judicial authority at the same time) was created at the end of 1850, the district administration Jasło was subordinate to the government area of Krakow and included the following jurisdictions:

  • Jasło judicial district
  • Żmigród judicial district
  • Krępna judicial district

After the announcement in 1854, on September 29, 1855 the Jasło District Office (still responsible for administration and jurisdiction) within the Jasło District was established.

After the district offices were abolished at the end of October 1865 and their competencies were transferred to the district offices , the division of the country into two administrative areas was also abolished after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1867. In addition, in the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration, separate administrative and judicial authorities were created. While the judicial division remained largely unaffected, municipalities of several judicial districts were combined into administrative districts.

The new political district Jasło was formed from the following districts:

On September 15, 1896, the judicial district of Frysztak was spun off from the district and joined the newly created political district Strzyżów .

In the 1910 census, the Jasło district consisted of 128 parishes and 102 manor areas and covered an area of 811 km². In 1900 the population had still comprised 83,794 people, in 1910 87,878 people lived here. The majority of the people living in the area spoke Polish (91%) and Roman Catholic, Jews made up around 7% of the population (the majority in Żmigród Nowy , a large proportion in Jasło and Ołpiny).
