The judicial district of Wadowice was a judicial district in the Crown Land of Galicia and Lodomeria, which was subordinate to the District Court of Wadowice . It covered areas in western Galicia. The center and seat of the judicial district was the city of Wadowice . After the First World War , Austria had to cede the entire judicial district to Poland . The area is now part of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship .

After the general principles of the judicial system in the crown lands had been approved by Emperor Franz Joseph I in June 1849 , the ministries of the interior, finance and justice established the new administrative and judicial division in 1854. At the top level, the two administrative areas Kraków (West Galicia) and Lemberg (East Galicia) were created, followed by the districts and the districts. The district offices were initially mixed authorities, which were responsible for politics, administration and justice. After the district offices were abolished at the end of October 1865 and their competencies were transferred to the district offices, the division of the country into two administrative areas was also abolished after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1867. While the judicial division remained largely unaffected and the "pure" district courts began their service on February 28, 1867, municipalities of several judicial districts were combined into administrative districts. In contrast to other crown lands, where a judicial district only ever belonged to one political district, the judicial districts of Galicia were partially divided into several districts by the regulations of 1867. This situation was finally rectified in 1878 by extensive changes in the scope of the judicial districts, whereby the judicial district of Wadowice was expanded on August 1, 1878 to include the municipalities and manors of Graboszyce, Laskowa, Palczowice, Rudze, Smolice, Trzebieńczyce, Wiglowice and Zator from the judicial district of Andrichów. In addition, the judicial district of Wadowice received the communities Kolipowieckie , Podolsze and Przeciszów from the judicial district Oświęcim, the communities Marcówka and Zembrzyce from the judicial district Maków and the communities Śleszowice Dolne and Śleszowice Górne from the judicial district Ślemień.

In the course of the creation of the District Court of Wadowice, the judicial district of Wadowice was subordinated to this on May 1, 1882 and removed from the jurisdiction of the District Court of Krakow.

With the creation of the Zator judicial district, the Wadowice judicial district lost the municipalities and estates of Bachowice, Chrząstowice, Graboszyce, Grodzisko, Laczany, Laskowa, Lipowa, Miejsce-Spytkowice, Palczowice, Podolsze, Półwieś, Smolieś, Przeciszów , Trzebieńczyce and Zator, but in return the Wadowice judicial district received the municipalities and estates of Kaczyna, Koziniec and Ponikiew from the Andrichów judicial district on January 1, 1894. In addition, on January 1, 1890, the municipality of Tarnawa came from the judicial district of Ślemień to the judicial district of Wadowice.
