Jaszczurowa is a village with a Schulzenamt of the Mucharz municipality in the Powiat Wadowicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place is located on the Jaszczurówka brook in the Little Beskids . Neighboring towns are Koziniec in the north, Świnna Poręba in the northeast, Mucharz in the east, Śleszowice in the southeast and Tarnawa Górna in the southwest.

history

The place was probably founded by Żegota z Benkowicz after 1333 and was first mentioned in 1389 as a private village owned by a certain Skarbek .

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz , which existed from 1315 during the period of Polish particularism . Since 1327 consisted suzerainty of the Kingdom of Bohemia . Since 1445 it belonged to the Duchy of Zator , which was sold to Poland in 1494.

From 1610 the village belonged to Józef Palczowski, who wrote the famous book about Cossacks there . The famous robber Józef Baczyński lived there in the 18th century.

During the first partition of Poland , Jaszczurowa came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Jaszczurowa came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the district of Bielitz in the administrative district of Katowice in the province of Silesia (since 1941 province of Upper Silesia ).

From 1975 to 1998 Jaszczurowa belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
