Śleszowice is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Zembrzyce in the powiat Wadowicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place is on the stream Tarnawka, a left tributary of the Skawa , between Tarnawa Dolna in the east, Tarnawa Górna in the west and Mucharz in the north, in the Little Beskids .

history

The place was probably founded by Żegota z Benkowicz after 1333. Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz , which existed from 1315 during the period of Polish particularism . Since 1327 the duchy existed under the feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia . It was first mentioned in 1376 and later belonged to the Starostei Barwałd .

When Poland was first partitioned , Śleszowice became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Śleszowice became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the district of Bielitz in the administrative district of Katowice in the province of Silesia (since 1941 province of Upper Silesia ). As part of the Saybusch campaign, the majority of Poles behind Skawa were expelled from Śleszowice to the Generalgouvernement in order to be able to settle ethnic Germans .

From 1975 to 1998 Śleszowice was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
