The place was first mentioned in 1353 as Kossowa , when the owner of the village, Dziersław (Dzierżko) from Stogniowice, received permission to separate the village from the parish in Marcyporęba and to join the new parish in Tłuczań . Most of the village had a common history with Tłuczań and Chrząstowice .

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Kossowa became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Kossowa became part of Poland again. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
