Bęczyn is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Brzeźnica in the powiat Wadowicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1356 as Bynczin . The name of the village is derived from the first name of the original owner Bynek (≤ Benedykt).

At that time the village belonged to the so-called Radwanite Corridor . This belonged to Poland and connected the Duchy of Auschwitz , the feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia , in the west with its exclave in the east.

When Poland was first partitioned , Bęczyn and Pobiedr became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).

In the later 18th century the hamlet of Bęczynek was established with its own estate, farm, brewery and pub.

In 1918, after the end of World War I and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Bęczyn became part of Poland again. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Bęczyn belonged to the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
