Roków is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Wadowice in the powiat Wadowicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

The place is on the right bank of the Skawa . The neighboring towns are the city of Wadowice in the west, Witanowice in the north, Babica in the northeast and Klecza Dolna in the southeast.

history

The mentions from the years 1238 and 1243 convey the bestowal of the village from Janko to the Gryfici family to the Benedictine nuns in Staniątki . In 1254 the village with both banks of the Skawa (as well as Mucharz , Facimiech , Krzęcin , Grodzisko ) belonged to the Premonstratensian Sisters in Zwierzyniec (now Cracow ). The village was probably divided into several parts because the part on the left bank remained in the possession of the Premonstratensian women and was taken by the city of Wadowice in the middle of the 17th century. The area between the rivers Skawa in the west and Skawinka in the east was separated from Lesser Poland in 1274 and attached to the Duchy of Opole . The Duchy of Opole was divided in 1281 after the death of Wladislaus I von Opole . From 1290 the village belonged to the Duchy of Teschen and from 1315 to the Duchy of Auschwitz , from 1327 under feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia . Since 1445 it belonged to the Duchy of Zator , which was sold to Poland in 1494.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Roków became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Roków became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the General Government .

From 1975 to 1998 Roków was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
