Babica is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Wadowice in the powiat Wadowicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship , Poland .

The place is on the Babica brook .

Neighboring towns are Witanowice and Lgota in the north, Wysoka in the east, Klecza Dolna in the south, and Roków in the west.

history

The place was originally called Babice and was first mentioned in 1380.

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz , which existed from 1315 during the period of Polish particularism . Since 1327 consisted suzerainty of the Kingdom of Bohemia . Since 1445 it belonged to the Duchy of Zator , which was sold to Poland in 1494.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Babica became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Babica came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the General Government .

From 1975 to 1998 Babica was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
