Günzach Castle
Günzach Castle is a listed building in Günzach in the Swabian district of Ostallgäu .
history
When the former hunting lodge in the Grünegger Forest collapsed in a storm in 1730, the Kempten prince Abbot Anselm von Reichlin-Meldegg had a new castle built in the “Thal an der Günz”. With the secularization of 1803, the new owner Johann Friedrich turned the castle into a well-known brewery , which was taken over by the Gabler family from Obergünzburg between 1855 and 1875. In 1930 the Günzach Castle Brewery was closed by the Gabler family. A cotton spinning mill was built in the buildings, later the first “Allgäu glass factory”.
