Unterthingau Castle
Unterthingau Castle today houses the community administration of Unterthingau , the community and parish library and various associations.
history
Since 1465, Unterthingau had been the seat of a village court of the prince monastery of Kempten . The castle was in 1515 for the first time as the seat of pin-kemptischen Lower Court mentioned. After the secularization in 1803 it was used as an inn . In 1965 the building came into the possession of the municipality and was renovated between 1976 and 1979 with the support of the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments.
Building description
Mighty building dominating the townscape with a steep pitched roof, 1594 western reconstruction over the older core, interior baroque in 1695/96.
