history
The place Gorzeń was first documented in 1390. In the 15th century the village was divided into two parts, which since the 19th century have been called Gorzeń Dolny ( Lower ) and Gorzeń Górny ( Upper ).
Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz , the feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia . Since 1445 it belonged to the Duchy of Zator , which was sold to Poland in 1494.
During the first partition of Poland , Gorzeń Górny became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Gorzeń Górny came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the district of Bielitz in the administrative district of Katowice in the province of Silesia (since 1941 province of Upper Silesia ).
From 1975 to 1998 Gorzeń Górny was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
