Lgota is a village with a Schulzenamt in the municipality of Tomice in the powiat Wadowicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship , Poland .

Neighboring towns are the city of Wyźrał in the north, Bachorowice in the east, Wysoka in the southeast, Babica in the south, Witanowice in the west.

history

The Lgota land originally belonged to the Witanowice village. In 1361 nova Wythanouicz was mentioned, probably the same village as Lgota , which was first mentioned in 1380. The name lgota means grace period .

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Auschwitz , which existed from 1315 during the period of Polish particularism . Since 1327 consisted suzerainty of the Kingdom of Bohemia . Since 1445 it belonged to the Duchy of Zator , which was sold to Poland in 1494.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Lgota became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Lgota came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Lgota was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .

In 1946 the hamlet Wyźrał was separated as a new village.
