Néstor Nieves

Néstor Nieves ( Néstor Francisco Nieves; born December 29, 1974 ) is a former Venezuelan obstacle runner .

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he was eliminated from the preliminary stages.

In 1997 he won bronze at the Central American and Caribbean Athletics Championships, in 1998 bronze at the Ibero-American Championships and silver at the Central American and Caribbean Games . At the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville, he did not get past the first round.

In 2000 he took 87th place on the short distance at the World Cross Country Championships in Vilamoura . Silver at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 2001, followed by bronze at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2002.

In 2003 he won the South American Athletics Championships in Barquisimeto and the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo .

At the 2004 Cross Country World Championships in Brussels, he finished 102nd on the short distance, and at the Central America and Caribbean Games in 2006, he won silver.

He set his personal best over the 3000 m obstacle of 8: 27.36 minutes on September 2, 2000 in Barcelona .
