Rychwałd is a village in the Pleśna municipality in the Tarnowski powiat of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .
geography
The place is located 14 km south of the city of Tarnów between some hills (Ostra Góra - 350 m, Lubinka - 402 m) on the northeastern edge of the Rożnów Mountains . The neighboring towns are Pleśna in the north, Łowczówek in the northeast, Buchcice in the east, Lichwin in the south, Lubinka in the west, and Szczepanowice in the northwest.
history
The place was in 1443 as Richwald / Richwałd , 1493 Rychwalth . Mentioned in a document in 1508 as Richwald / Rychwald / Richwaldow . The name is of Middle High German origin: * Rīchwalde (rich + forest).
Politically and administratively, the village belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Sandomir Voivodeship , Pilzno District .
During the first partition of Poland , Rychwałd came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Rychwałd came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Rychwałd was part of the Tarnów Voivodeship .
