Kazimierz Rymut

Kazimierz Rymut (born December 18, 1935 in Chechły near Ropczyce , † November 14, 2006 in Kraków ) was a Polish onomastic , language historian and publicist.

He studied at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow , where he also received his doctorate in 1968. He became a professor at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow in 1972.

For many years Rymut was the director of the Polish Language Institute at the Polish Academy of Sciences and head of the Polish Name Research Department , Chairman of the Slavic Name Research Commission in the International Committee of Slavs and Chairman of the Commission on Place Names and Physiographical Names in the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration.
