Rehberg (from 1926 Polish Pyszówka ) is a former German and Polish settlement in western Ukraine . It is located about 1 kilometer southeast of Sarny ( Сарни ), in Jaworiw Raion of Lviv Oblast .

The colony was established in 1788 as part of the Josephine colonization . German colonists of the Reformed denomination were settled there. In the late 19th century, some of the German farms were bought by Poles from Grodzisko near Leżajsk , and in this way they were gradually Polonized.

In 1900 Rehberg was deleted from the register of Protestant parishes. This year the municipality of Rehberg had 23 houses with 143 inhabitants, 107 of them Polish-speaking, 34 German-speaking, 2 Ruthenian-speaking, 96 Roman Catholic, 13 Greek Catholic, 34 of other faiths.

In 1904 the local Protestant chapel was re-consecrated as a Roman Catholic by Bishop Józef Sebastian Pelczar ; it belonged to the parish in Krakowez (Krakowiec).

After the end of the Polish-Ukrainian War in 1919, Rehberg came to Poland. In 1921 the community had 31 houses with 170 inhabitants, all of them Poles, 169 Roman Catholics, 1 Greek Catholic.

In 1927 the name Rehberg was changed to Pyszówka after the long-time mayor of Wojciech Pysz .

In the course of the Second World War , the place was first occupied by the Soviet Union and then in 1941 came to the district of Galicia .

On April 7, 1944, between 50 and 100 Poles were brutally killed by OUN-UPA and the buildings (45 farms) burned completely.
