Jerry Murad

Jerry Murad (born December 1, 1918 as Jerry Muradian in Constantinople , † May 11, 1996 in Liberty Township , Ohio ) was an American harmonica player.

Murad, son of Armenian parents, was a member of the Harmonica Rascals of Borrah Minevitch in the early 1940s . In 1944 he left the group with Al Fiore to found the Harmonicats with Don Les , which became by far the most successful harmonica group in the USA. The track Peg o 'My Heart became a top hit in 1947. The Harmonicats have released more than twenty albums over the years on the Columbia and Mercury labels .

He also performed with Richard Hayman's Orchestra in a duo with Al Fiore and released a number of albums on textbooks for harmonica playing on his own label.
