Jerusalem cross

The Jerusalem Cross was donated by Kaiser Wilhelm II on October 31, 1898 and could be awarded to all persons of his retinue who accompanied him on the trip to Palestine and who took part in the inauguration of the German Evangelical Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem .

The religious character is a gilt silver -made crutch cross with four red enameled cross arms. Another reduced crutch cross is attached between each cross arm (i.e. the five-fold Jerusalem cross ). In the medallion the initials W II IR (Wilhelm II Imperator Rex) crowned by the imperial crown . Verso in Roman letters in the middle of the foundation date a large X , about XXXI , left MD , right CCC and below II C .

The award was worn on a vermilion ribbon on the left chest.
