Isaiah of Rostov

Isaiah of Rostow also just Isaiah (died May 15, 1090 ) was Bishop of Rostow from 1078 to 1090 at the latest. He is venerated as a saint in the Russian Orthodox Church . His feast day is May 15th .

Isaiah was born in the Kievan Rus. He was a monk in the Kiev Pechersk Lavra . In 1062 he became Igumen ( abbot ) of the Demetrioskloster in Kiev. No later than 1078 he became Bishop of Rostov. Various churches in Rostov were consecrated during his tenure. Isaiah died on May 15, 1090. He is buried in the Assumption Cathedral in Rostov.
