Life

Madsen was born in 1974 in Roskilde, Denmark and began drawing as a child. His father was a collector of Disney magazines, so the illustrator grew up with Disney characters. Madsen was 14 years old when the Danish Mickey Mouse magazine celebrated its 40th anniversary in March 1989 and held a drawing competition. The 14-year-old and a school friend wrote and drew a story about the Golden Helmet , which is one of the Barks' stories, whereupon they were selected as winners and won a trip to Florida for the entire school class.

Madsen finished school, did military service, and tried many different jobs. After the decision to become a Disney illustrator in 1995, Egmont hired him and appointed Peter Härdfeldt as a teacher. Fernando Güell taught him in 2000 , after which he now works for Mickey Mouse magazine.
