history
Jezreel was originally a fortified Canaanite city ( Jos 17,16 EU ), which, according to biblical tradition, was taken by the tribe of Issachar when they were conquered ( Jos 19,18 EU ). Along with Samaria, it formed the residence of Ahab and his successors.
