Jesus. Ein Nazarener ( Der man fun Natzeres ) also Der Nazarener or Jesus der Nazarener is a novel by the author Shalom Asch , which was published in 1939.

In his epic work about the life of Jesus of Nazareth , Shalom Asch reports from a multi-perspective point of view: on the one hand from the point of view of an old Polish professor and on the other hand from that of a Jewish student, both of whom live independently of one another in the faith of once contemporaries of Jesus' to have been and to have participated in the historical events of the time. In addition, Asch describes the events through a fictional 5th Gospel .

Asch first wrote the work in Yiddish before it was translated into English. The first German translation was Der Nazarener , Amsterdam 1950, later it was also given the title Jesus the Nazarener .
