Jewish Care

Jewish Care is a charity that operates over 70 centers in London and South East England . She supports social welfare organizations for vulnerable members of the Jewish community . This includes nursing homes, meeting places and services such as self-help groups, family carers and telephone information centers.

The organization serves over 10,000 people a week who believe that Jews should have access to professional services that meet their needs. This is reflected in the care in terms of tradition, belief and culture. Jewish festivals, such as the Sabbath, are celebrated in Jewish Care homes and in meeting places. Care is offered for everyone, regardless of how much they practice their faith.

The charity employs 1,400 people and 3,000 volunteers.

history

The charity was created in 1990 through the merger of the Jewish Welfare Board and the Jewish Blind Society.Since then, nine other organizations have joined Jewish Care, including:

  • The Jewish Home and Hospital in Tottenham
  • Food for the Jewish Poor ( soup kitchen )
  • British Tay-Sachs Foundation
  • Clore Manor (cooperation with London Jewish Hospital )
  • Hyman Fine House
  • Stepney Jewish ( B'nai B'rith ) Clubs and Settlements
  • Sinclair House - Redbridge Jewish Youth and Community Center

There is also cooperation with the Otto Schiff Housing Association and the Jewish Mental Health Organization (JAMI).

The Jewish Board of Guardians , founded in London in 1859, was one of the oldest charities from which Jewish Care descended. Gail Ronson helped organize the celebration of Jewish Care's 125th anniversary in 1983, which was also attended by Prince Charles and Princess Diana .

Jewish Care offers services for:
