Jiří Diviš

Jiří Diviš (* 16th March 1956 ) is an out of Czechoslovakia originating Swiss entrepreneurs and managers .

Career

In the 1970s he played in the basketball team of Baník Most and Slavoj Vyšehrad . In 1979 he emigrated to Switzerland, where he studied law. After completing his studies, he worked in an international consultancy firm that advised small and medium-sized companies on management, strategy and organization. In the 1990s he represented the Swiss company Investenergy SA in the Czech Republic, which among other things bought shares in Mostecká uhelná společnost, as ( Most coal company ) for the Appian Group . Jiří Diviš came to MUS as an advisor to the then deputy chairman of the board, Luboš Měkota, whom he knew from his youth.

MUS case

Between 1998 and 2002 Jiří Diviš was a member of the MUS supervisory board. In 2003, together with Marek Čmejla , he led the strategic entry of the Appian Group at the Pilsener Škodawerk company , which was in a dilapidated state after the Lubomír Soudek era. The Appian Group bought part of the company from the state for 350 million kroner and the remaining part of the Škoda factory in Pilsen for 450 million kroner from the bankruptcy administrator . Appian's entry into the Škoda factory in Pilsen saved this traditional industrial producer from ruin. The company went through a successful restructuring process and is now a top European manufacturer of transport systems. Since 2003 he has been a member of the supervisory board of Pilsener Škodawerk .

In October 2013, the court of first instance in Bellinzona, Switzerland, did not convict Jiří Diviš to a final sentence of 46 months for fraud, money laundering and forgery of documents. He committed these crimes when the Appian company bought the minority stake in MUS from the Czech state in 1999. He and his legal representatives are currently preparing an appeal against this judgment at the Federal Supreme Court in Lausanne .
